Facial Trauma and Reconstruction

Facial Trauma Care

Facial trauma includes injuries to facial bones, teeth, soft tissue, and occlusion. Common causes include falls, motor vehicle collisions, interpersonal trauma, and sports injuries.

Early evaluation is critical, especially when injuries may affect airway, vision, jaw movement, or bite alignment.

Our goal is to restore function first, then optimize facial symmetry, soft tissue healing, and long-term outcomes.

Urgent evaluation is important for:

  • Suspected facial fractures or jaw instability
  • Bite changes after injury
  • Facial numbness, severe pain, or deformity
  • Soft tissue injuries involving lip, eyelid, or facial contour
  • Dental injuries with displacement or avulsion

Treatment Approach

Evaluation includes clinical exam and imaging to define injury pattern and treatment timing.

Minor injuries may be managed conservatively or with limited in-office procedures. Complex fractures and multi-site trauma are managed in a hospital setting.

Surgical fixation is used when needed to restore alignment and function. Soft-tissue repair is planned to support both healing and esthetic outcome.

Care Timeline

Step 1

Acute Assessment

We identify urgent risks and prioritize safe, timely management.

Step 2

Definitive Treatment Planning

Imaging and exam findings guide whether management is conservative, procedural, or surgical.

Step 3

Repair and Stabilization

Fracture reduction/fixation and soft tissue repair are performed when indicated.

Step 4

Follow-Up and Rehabilitation

We monitor healing, bite function, sensory recovery, and scar maturation over time.
